Insurance and Fees
Insurance
I recommend that you confirm my in-network status with your insurance company and your copay/deductible information prior to reaching out for services. It is very rare to not have any out of pocket costs for therapy services even with insurance benefits. If I am out of network with your insurance company I can offer private pay. If you would like, I can provide you with a receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement purposes, often referred to as a Superbill. I suggest you check with your insurance company because they may reimburse for out of network benefits.
When you talk to your insurance company these are helpful questions to ask:
-
How much is my copay for outpatient mental health services?
-
Does my policy cover billing code 90837 (60 minute sessions)?
-
Do I have a deductible I need to meet before my counseling sessions will be covered by insurance?
-
Is there a limit on sessions my plan will cover per year? (If so, how many?)
-
Does my policy cover telehealth/ virtual visits?
Private Pay
You may chose to do private pay for your counseling sessions, which means no information will be sent to your insurance company. Some clients chose to pay privately for therapy services if they do not want a mental health diagnosis or attendance of therapy in their medical record. Clients may also prefer to not have their services restricted by their insurance, for example, if they do not meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis, or having a plan that only covers a specific number of sessions each year. If you choose to pay privately, you have to right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your services may cost. For more information on the No Surprises Act please go to https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Forms of Payment
I accept payments (co-pays, private pay) in the form of all major debit cards, credit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. Payment occurs at the time of service.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your appointment, please give me a 24 hour notice to avoid a charge. Insurance companies do not pay charges for missed appointments. You are responsible for the fee out of pocket for late cancellation or no call/no show fees.
